Neutral finishes (colors) for cabinetry historically reign supreme, but this year there’s a twist – actually more than one. The all-white kitchen in all its purity and impossible-to-keep-clean glory, is fading fast. Taking center stage in 2018 are very light and soft grays, semi-opaque cream finishes on wood and a surprising micro emerging trend – light khaki tones. Grays and warm grays in the medium to dark shades are even more widely seen in stylish kitchens than in previous years, often mixed with a soft white, an update to classic black and white. A micro trend of gold finishes on cabinet doors is new for 2018.
To increase the sleek look of kitchens which is popular at the moment, more people are preferring cabinetry without handles. While the ability to open your cupboards without handles was previously used only for high placed cabinets, the same principle is now being applied to carpentry throughout the kitchen and people love the clean look it provides.
When it comes to nerve-wracking kitchen design decisions, cabinetry has an undisputed leadership position. It will be challenging, it will be exhausting, and it will be extremely important. To make matters even scarier, cabinetry costs, and it is not such a recommended practice to choose random ones as they can affect reversely the entire appearance of the kitchen.
Kitchens work the best with laminate, vinyl, and hardwood, and the choice of patterns and colors is just impressive. You can use flooring to replicate literally every style, from minimalist industrial kitchens to light-tile country French ones.
