Try to apply the same principle with materials and accessories, because you’re purchasing pieces that have to satisfy the needs of two rooms (to be more precise, porcelain flooring makes perfect sense in the kitchen, but it will certainly obstruct the warm and welcoming scenario you intend to introduce in the kitchen. A good example of such material is natural stone, especially a finely cut one.
When you have a room devoted to be your kitchen interior design space, functionality won’t concern you at all. But what happens when you have an open floor space to deal with? How do you combine the kitchen and the living room in the perfect way. In cases such as these ones, people should simply not feel the difference between the two areas and perceive them as a single room, and you don’t have the right to err.
Countertop trends for 2018 feature an old favorite, marble, especially seen in engineered stone. Marble patterns are so creatively designed in exaggerated blown-up patterns we saw last year and still love as well as a wide range of patterns that are almost coy – obviously faux but clearly marble-inspired. There is a noticeable turn away from the Calacattas and Carraras toward these (and natural) similar but different marble patterns. Wood countertops are trending in 2018 and nicely warm up the modern aesthetic. Engineered stone countertop colors (non marble) for 2018 are grays, mottled and soft concrete textures, leather finishes on the periphery and a bit of khaki colored stone on the horizon.
Traditional and long breakfasts in the dining rooms are far behind us, as we all run around a tight schedule, and hardly have the time to grab a snack bite before we go out. That’s where breakfast nooks become the handiest – they can either help you skip the dish mess and keep food in the kitchen, or be long enough to be used even for lunches and dinners.
